THANK YOU Dr. Feinman for that explanation. I appreciate the fact that you acknowledge for about half of us, watching calories may be necessary while restricting carbs may be necessary to lose and/or maintain weight loss. I’ve never personally counted calories while on the Atkins diet, but I know many of my readers who have to if they want to see success on their low-carb lifestyle. It’s also important that you stated that “fat plays a passive role” in your diet and that eat too much of it can pile on the calories for those who need to be mindful of their total caloric intake. Outstanding information!

For example, here is what I put in for my statistics:

MALE
6’3″
219 pounds
34 years old
Very Active activity level

For me to maintain my current weight, I should consume 3657 calories.

So, using Nicki’s formula for weight loss, I need to drop that down to 3157 calories to begin burning excess body fat. That may sound like a lot, but with my workout routine and calorie needs, it’s not unheard of.

Dessutom tvivlar jag starkt på att han är 34 år. Och ju äldre man är desto färre kalorier förbränner man. Oavsett vad han sysslar med som gör att han tycker sig förbränna så mycket.  :biggrin1:

Förresten, Very Active - I doubt.


   Sedentary = (little or no exercise, desk job)
    Lightly Active = (light exercise or sports 1-3 days/wk)
    Moderately Active = (moderate exercise or sports 3-5 days/wk)
    Very Active = (hard exercise or sports 6-7 days/wk)
    Extremely Active = (hard daily exercise or sports & physical labor job or 2 X day training, football camp, etc.)

Lite dumma definitioner, tror jag. Jag placerade mig själv mellan Moderately och Very Active. No hard excercise here, but more frequent than the moderate option. There was no moderate excercise 6-7 days a week option or I would have chosen that. Jag hamnade nog ganska rätt tror jag, så kalkylatorn är det nog inget fel på.
